About
Something changed about 100 years ago. Starting with the invention of the internal combustion engine, and joined later by the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl of the Dirty Thirties, the U.S. began its transition from a predominantly rural, agrarian society to a mostly urban one. This transition sparked an era of the Great Urbanization of America. During this era (of which we are still in the midst of), the city continues to perfect itself, a monolithic task considering those who have created the idea of the city are, themselves, imperfect.
And so we have the theme of our blog.
I, Urbanite, based in the fictopseudonymus (not a real word) city of New Ventana, but not necessarily confined to its limits, seeks to give prominence to the miracle and perils of modern urban living and its effects on the individual and that individual’s lifestyle, work and culture.
As a caveat: nothing within the digital confines of this blog is to be taken seriously. Or perhaps all of it should be.
